When you’re setting up an interview process, especially when it is a remote process, you should first think about the knowledge, skills, abilities, and other characteristics (KSAOs) that are the most critical to the success of the role. What behaviors align with the company’s values? What competencies are the most important to the organization when evaluating candidates? What are the goals and outputs of the role? Build a list of 5 core competencies that are critical to the role and organization.


Once you define the core competencies for a given role, you can use our Competency Scorecard Template to rate candidates during the interview process and how they align to the defined competencies.
