John has been the Dean of the Office of Career Services and Alumni Relations at New York Institute of Technology for 12 years. Prior to John taking on this role, he was the Director of Employer Relations at NYIT Career Services and a member of the senior leadership team within the Division of Student Affairs. A long serving Student Affairs professional, John has held positions in residence life, domestic and international admissions, alumni services as well as career services and experiential education. John’s brief from the President of NYIT is to “deliver on the promise of providing Career Ready Graduates”. John is about creating opportunities for the future through job and internship creation while students are in college. The majority of his work was spent working with employers and Human Resources professionals to assist them in their hiring needs.
John has been coaching students, athletes, alumni and young professionals entering the workforce for over 15 years. The work he enjoys most is working with the people and developing the relationship as their career coach.
“John is a dedicated, driven, and tireless pursuer of excellence for his constituents – the students and alumni of NYIT. Under his leadership, the NYIT Office of Career Services has grown from a small operation to a world-class, state-of-the-art facility that operates on two campuses. John commands the respect and admiration of his staff and his peers, and has brought NYIT to the forefront of its competition through professionally organized and well-attended career fairs, one-one-one service to students and alumni seeking employment and/or career advice, and the ongoing growth and development of the facilities in his charge, which are timely, vast and easily accessible to users. I’d recommend John with no reservations.”
“The first meeting I ever had with John was in the Prospective Students Office at Murdoch University in Perth, Western Australia. His passion for education, careers and Murdoch was amazing and as a result of that meeting I made Murdoch my university. During my studies John was always there, encouraging me and my fellow students and presenting networking and employment opportunities. He is dedicated, diligent and truly delightful – full of charm, charisma and most importantly – integrity. ”
